Planting with Grow Bag Kits
Step 1: Purchase Bagoplant Grow Bag Kit, Soil, and Plant

• LECA Ball Pouch
• Houseplant (not included)
• Soil (not included)
Step 2: Add Soil to Grow Bag
Place the grow bag on a flat surface and add potting soil to the bottom of the grow bag filling two-thirds of the way up. A good soil mix includes compost, perlite, and topsoil.
Step 3: Prepare Your Plant
When repotting a plant, gently massage the root ball to loosen the soil.
Step 4: Place Your Plant
Centre the root ball on top of the soil and ensure the leaves sit above the bag’s lip.
Step 5: Fill Grow Bag with Soil
Fill up the rest of the grow back with soil leaving about 1.5 inches of space from the lip. Gently tap and shake the bag to help the soil settle evenly.
Step 5: Spread LECA Balls on Saucer
Evenly spread the LECA balls in the saucer, using just enough to cover the surface. You don’t need to use all the LECA—adding more will reduce the frequency of watering needed.
Step 6: Set Up Grow Bag on Saucer
Place the grow bag on top of the LECA balls in the saucer. Position the saucer in a well-lit area with adequate sunlight for your plant’s needs.
Watering with Grow Bags
Top Watering
Water your plant evenly from the top, allowing excess water to drain out the sides of the bag and collect into the saucer.
Bottom Watering
Bottom water your plant by filling the saucer with water until the LECA balls are fully saturated. When the LECA balls are saturated, continue to fill the saucer to the brim.
Overwatering
If you notice the soil pooling in the grow bag after it has drained, you are overwatering your plant. Removing the LECA balls and the water from the saucer allowing the Grow Bag to dry
Watering Schedule
Regularly check the LECA balls to ensure they’re retaining moisture. When the LECA is bone-dry, add water. Adjust watering as needed, and be sure to follow specific care requirements for your plant.
Grow Bag Care
Bottom watering ensures the Grow Bag maintains its aesthetic colour and form. Note that top watering is required for the initial settling of the soil and occasional top-ups.
Grow Bag Longevity
Grow Bags are meant to promote plant growth, airprune healthy roots, and prevent overwatering. The colour of the grow bags will sustain growing a season. While the function of the grow bag will last, the colour of the Grow Bag will darken over time. Bottom Watering preserves the colour. Our Grow Bag Kits also function and fit perfectly in planters.
